After field dressing and breaking down one deer with my typical fixed blade knives, it was necessary to hone and sharpen a number of times during the different processes. After feeling the quality grip and texture, I noticed that the weight felt pretty solid. It wasn’t too light or too heavy. I felt a good balance while the blade was open and extended, as well as closed. This is a knife I feel as though I could use for hours without an issue. I’ve really enjoyed the feel of this knife. I give this a confident 10/10.

Once the knife was in my hand, I knew the grip was high quality with very grippy textured ridges. It felt like it would stick to my hand while using it for the work I planned, such as field dressing an animal or processing the meat later. Having a knife grip that limits the amount of slippage between the hand and the knife is key to safety as well as precision cuts. This grip felt like it fit the bill perfectly. The grip feels high quality, and this is an easy 10/10.

The first use of the blades enlightened me to how well these would truly perform right out of the box. They live up to the name “RazorBone” very clearly. This knife has been labeled as “a glorified razor blade” and that is quite accurate. Similar to a box cutter, the blades that are used are flexible yet strong. The sharpness is hard to beat and stay razor sharp longer than a normal knife blade.
My first real test for the boning blade was processing eight deer quarters. Throughout the process, I was able to complete my task without a sharpening needed. I also tried breaking down all eight quarters without honing the blade throughout to see how the blade would handle the tough task. By the end of deboning the quarters, I could tell there was a slight difference in blade sharpness. Although, compared to my regular boning knife after the same workload, the sharpness seemed immaculate.
The skinning blade was just as effective and equally as sharp as the boning blade. After the skinning of one deer, the blade was still in great shape for more use. I have been very happy with the durability of these blades. I have had no opportunity to put the gut hook blade to use yet. But going through the work I did with the blades, I can safely give the blade quality a 9.5/10.

One of the best perks of the interchangeable blade system is that you aren’t required to stick with one specific blade length at all times. Whether you’re using this knife for hunting and processing purposes, or just carrying a pocket knife around for daily activities, it is perfectly convenient.
The knife as a whole feels great with every blade length. The knife with the boning blade is 10.9” long compared to 9.4” with the skinning blade installed. Closed and in your pocket, this tool sits at 5.9”. With the gut hook blade installed, the length is nearly identical to when the skinning blade is attached. The versatility of using different blades to change the size by an inch and a half give this a respectable 8/10.

The one concern I had towards this knife was the ability to effectively clean after each use. With all of the crevices throughout the tool, I could see it being difficult to thoroughly clean residue from the hard-to-reach spaces. After breaking down my venison, I got after the task of a deep clean. Using hot water, soap, and an old toothbrush made it simple. Cleaning the knife without a toothbrush is more labor-intensive and time consuming, but works in the end. I would give ease of cleaning a solid 7/10.

Overall, the RazorBone folding knife from Outdoor Edge is a good option for outdoorspeople. With the high quality construction, excellent design, and ease of replacing the blades for different purposes, it’s a no-brainer to include this in your collection. The knife feels very balanced and is ergonomically good to use. The downside with such a system is that eventually you will have to replace the blades, and this replacement system does make it a little harder to clean. Nevertheless, I’m pleased with the knife.
