TightSpot Five Arrow Quiver Review

Camron Stover

There’s hunting gear that you buy each and every year and then there’s hunting gear that you buy once and use it year after year because it’s dependable and functional.  The Tight Spot 5 arrow quiver has been a staple in my archery gear longer than any other piece of gear in my arsenal.  In fact, I can’t remember exactly how old this quiver is because I’ve had it for so long!  Bow after bow, season after season, the only piece of hunting gear that has earned its place on my bow for the last decade and I have no need to buy a new one anytime soon.

A Quiver Designed to Fit Tight to Your Bow

The initial reason that I purchased this quiver so many years ago is that it fits tighter to the riser of your bow, preventing the bow from canting to one side as much as a quiver would that sticks out further away from the riser.  When they first came out, they were the only quiver on the market that offered this streamlined design, which allows a lot of archery to shoot their bow with their quiver on.  Typically, I prefer not to shoot with the quiver on but I did during a recent bear hunt without issue.  In fact, the bear “Didn’t Go 20!”

Lightweight Quiver That’s Built to Last

There are more quivers on the market than I can count and labeling one quiver the best would be biased, to say the least.  However, finding a lightweight and functional quiver that’s built to last is a little more difficult.  The Tight Spot 5 arrow quiver weighs only 9.9 ounces, which isn’t the lightest quiver on the market, but it’s certainly not the heaviest.  The carbon rods are sturdy, yet lightweight and durable.  When looking at the lightest quivers on the market, you’ll often have to sacrifice durability and pay a higher cost.  The Tight Spot quiver doesn’t weigh down my bow and it’s proven to be durable through the years.

Securing Your Arrows and Broadheads in Place

The number one thing that a quiver must do is hold your arrows in place.  If it does that, then you’re good to go.  Also, you’ll need a quiver that is suitable for small and standard-diameter arrows.  I’m currently shooting small-diameter arrows and the Tight Spot quiver secures them in place very well.  Utilizing the Tight Spot Rubber piece thing, my arrows stay in place even during the vibration that my bow is subjected to when it’s in the bow holder on the front of my ATV.  Before putting the rubber piece on the quiver, the arrows would sometimes vibrate loose.  However, since installing the rubber piece, my arrows stay in place.

The Tight Spot Quiver can be adjusted to accommodate various arrow shaft sizes with an Allen wrench.  This allows you to custom fit the shaft to the quiver and if it were to ever wear down after extended use, you can simply tighten up the holder for the arrow that has loosened up.  So far, I haven’t had any sign of excessive wear that would require me to do this.

Mounting the Quiver to Your Bow

There are different brackets that allow you to secure the quiver to your bow, but I like to bolt my quiver to my sights.  The bracket that you need for most archery sights comes standard and they sell an offset bracket to accommodate some sliding pin sights such as the HHA.

The only issue that I’ve ever had from this quiver is that occasionally the Allen head bolt that attached the quiver to the bracket on your sights has come loose, allowing the quiver to slide off the bracket.  This is easily fixed and has never been an issue, it’s the only thing that I can really say negatively about the quiver, but it’s not a big deal as I typically just tighten it with my fingers and go on about my hunt.

Adjustable Position

Every bow is different and we all shoot different arrow lengths.  Thankfully, Tight Spot quivers allow you to adjust the position of the quiver, both the angle at which it’s mounted and the height at which the arrows align to the bow.  The TightSpot Quiver is equipped with an extra-long ‘wheelbase’. This stretched hood-to-gripper distance reduces both arrow and quiver vibration, resulting in far less unwanted noise.

Noise Reduction

One reason most people do not shoot with a quiver on their bow is the noise and the vibration that the make after the shot, but TightSpot has incorporated a lot of technology to reduce sound and vibration, including.  Tight Spot Quivers are equipped with a bumper strip on the crossbar, which kills arrow vibration after the shot. The TightSpot quiver is designed so your arrows can rest against the bumper strip on the side of the quiver crossbar, dampening smaller vibrations for an even quieter bow.

The QuadFit 4-way spacer lets you slide quiver against cable guard Rotate the QuadFit 4-way spacer, which has a different offset on every side, so the TightSpot quiver nestles as tight as possible to your bow. This gives you another point of contact, absorbs vibration, and gives you a reference point so you can put the quiver in the same place every time.  It’s like an anchor point on your bowstring but for your quiver.

Super-premium woven carbon rods offer unsurpassed strength-to-weight ratio and absorb vibration.  One reason a TightSpot quiver is so lightweight is that much of its structure consists of two carbon rods. These carbon rods are constructed of woven carbon cloth, which has a very high carbon content. They’re expensive but offer an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, excellent stability, and maximum vibration absorption. In fact, these rods work so well that your bow itself will vibrate less with a TightSpot quiver attached than with no quiver at all.

Another noise and vibration-reducing feature is the material inside the hood. In the space between the hood ceiling and the insert is a dampening material that is specially formulated for acoustic sound-deadening applications. This makes the quiver quieter than ever before.  Pick up a Secondary Gripper to finish it off and you won’t find a quieter quiver on the market.

Choosing The Right Quiver – Arrow Capacity

Tight Spot offers a variety of sizes that include various arrow capacities.  The most common being a five-arrow quiver, the lightest and smallest being a three-arrow quiver.  However, if you feel the need for more arrows, go ahead and get the seven-arrow quiver.  I just hope you don’t need the many arrows on your next hunting adventure!

I prefer a five-arrow quiver and typically carry a variety of broadheads while I’m hunting as well.  This year, my arrow is equipped with a small game broadhead, two mechanical broadheads, and two fixed-blade broadheads.  Why a variety of broadheads?  Simple, I hunt areas where I might cross paths with whitetails, black bears, wild boar, turkey, coyotes, and other small game.  So, I carry something for every occasion.  Sure, I could use the same broadhead for everything, but have you seen the cost of broadheads nowadays?  Coyotes get a cheap fixed blade, mechanical broadheads are often reserved for whitetails, while the good fixed blade is for big game animals like bears and wild boar.

TightSpot 5-Arrow Quiver Review | Summary

It’s not often that I can talk so highly of a product and say it’s worth every penny.  For me, the Tight Spot 5 arrow quiver is a great quiver and worth every penny.  It’s been with me on countless adventures and never failed.  It’s probably the best investment in my archery equipment that I’ve ever made.  Heck, I haven’t even had to swap out the foam inside the hood yet.  Don’t let the price tag scare you away, this quiver is worth the price and you should be able to get plenty of use out of it for years to come!  Treestand hunters might feel the need to remove the quiver and hang it off a gear hanger or attach it to their backpack, but it’s not necessary when you shoot a TightSpot!  The first thing you should do after purchasing this quiver is to pick up a Secondary Gripper, then fill it full of arrows and start hunting!
