Recently, I came across a good deal on the Muddy Deluxe Box Blind Tower and 5′ Deluxe Tower Extension Kit on FaceBook, so I bought without doing any research prior to assembly. All I knew was that I got a good deal because it looked like new. Little did I know, this box blind tower is designed specifically for their pre-fabbed box blinds but with a little redneck ingenuity, I was able to customize this tower stand to fit my needs and it worked out great!

Muddy The Deluxe Box Blind Tower | Features
The Muddy The Deluxe Box Blind Tower is constructed of heavy-duty, powder-coated steel that stands 5 feet tall upon assembly. If you purchase the 5′ Extension kit, you can elevate your blind to 10 feet in height. This tower has a weight rating of 500 pounds, which needs to be taken into consideration when you have multiple people in the blind.
Muddy The Deluxe Box Blind Tower | Installation
Installation wasn’t difficult but it was time-consuming. You need two people to make the job go quickly and easily, especially when it’s time to stand it up and install the ladder. The ladder is the heaviest item to install but it’s not hard. We attempted to install the Deluxe Box Blind Tower without instruction, which wasn’t that hard, to be honest. You’ll need to supply your own tools, but it doesn’t take anything fancy nor does it require and mechanical engineering degree.
It’s best to have a buddy help you throughout the process, especially when it’s time to set it in place. Don’t forget to bring a shovel or mat because you’ll need to level the blind and anchor it to the ground. It took us a few hours to install but that included site prep, installation, tree trimming, and winging it as we didn’t have instructions on how to assemble it since I bought it from a local seller on FaceBook Marketplace. Amazingly enough, we weren’t missing any parts, just the instructions.

What the Muddy The Deluxe Tower is Designed for and Why I’m not using it that way.
By design, the Muddy Deluxe Box Blind Tower is designed to support a Muddy Box Blind that should bolt directly onto the frame of the tower. Once assembled, this was evident because there was no platform on top, only a place large enough for you to stand on and step into the blind. Here’s my problem, I don’t own a fancy Muddy box blind and all I needed was an elevated platform for a pop-up blind to sit on, so I had to improvise and utilize the support rails for the box blind to support a wooden platform.
So, I built a wooden platform (floor) to sit on top of the tower, securing it to the frame with a few bolts and a homemade bracket. Construction of the platform consisted of a base frame from 2 x 4’s with 1/2″ Plywood on top. For an extra layer of protection, which is needed, you can paint the surface of the floor, or if you’d like to splurge, buy a gallon of Flex Seal!
From there, I installed a hub-style ground blind and secured it onto the base with paracord and screws. I’ve found this method works best when securing an inexpensive hub-style blind to a wooden platform in the past. The more you utilize, the better.

Should you buy the Deluxe Box Blind Extension Kit?
For me, it was a no-brainer to pick up the Deluxe Box Blind Extension Kit to gain the extra 5′ in height. In fact, I had to do that in order to utilize the blind at this location because it’s an urban archery property and you must be at least 8′ off the ground to be legal. Installation didn’t take much longer than if I’d just went with the 5′ version and it feels very stable. Having the additional 5′ of height increases my visibility, and changes the way my wind travels. Camouflaging myself in the canopy will not be an issue either, as the canopy in this area is very high.
The one recommendation I would make is to have a game plan as to where you’re going to install this tower blind before you buy the extension as some areas are better hunted at a lower height, especially flatland areas. Also, you might be able to use the terrain to your advantage and gain a few feet of elevation.
Muddy Deluxe Box Blind Tower Review Summary
Although I’m not using the Muddy Deluxe Box Blind Tower for its original purpose, I’m still pleased with the results. Installing a 10′ elevated ground blind is just what I needed on this property and I can’t wait to have my son join me on future hunts. Also, this is s shared property, so my buddy Jansen will hopefully have the opportunity to bring his son along with him as well. The goal for this project was to construct an elevated ground blind in a place where we can create memories with our kids and the Muddy Deluxe Box Blind Tower was an essential part of getting us off the ground and legal for the upcoming season.
