Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case – First Look
I recently picked up a new gun, a Palmetto State Armory PA10 Gen3 .308, and quickly found myself in need of a good rifle case to transport it, along with a couple of other rifles on my upcoming hunts this fall. After researching rifle cases, I chose the Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case and I couldn’t be happier. This case has exceeded my expectations in every way and it has become a piece of gear that I no longer think about, it’s simply second nature to load it in the truck and go. Below is my review of the Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case.
Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case Features:
The new Vault series gun cases are the most rugged and secure gun cases in their class. The Vault series of cases are equipped with several must-have features to protect your guns during transportation, at a price you can afford.

Are my guns protected inside the Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case?
After utilizing the Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case for a couple of months, I feel confident that my guns are protected from damage. The six push-button latches hold the case tightly closed and the rubber seal keeps dust and water out. Also, there are five layers of foam inside of this case to protect and secure your guns. You must customize the foam to fit your rifle, but this is easy to do.
Pelican claims that this rifle case is crush-proof, but I didn’t put that claim to the test because I wasn’t taking any chances. I wouldn’t recommend driving over any gun case with your truck, regardless of the manufactures claims and/or warranty. Who knows, your guns may survive, but I like this case and my guns too much to risk it.

How to Fit Your Guns into the Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case.
Customizing the foam within this case is imperative to safely storing and transporting your guns inside of the case. This process was quick and easy and this is how I did it.
- Choose the guns and items you want to store inside of the case.
- Next, lay each item on top of the foam inside of the case. Evenly space each gun from one another, as well as the sidewalls of the case.
- Next, trace the outline of each item, ensuring that the Sharpie is tight to the gun, magazine, or optic. Be sure not to let the Sharpie touch your gun though.
- Once you’ve traced the outline of each item, cut each piece out with a knife or speed up the process with an electric fillet knife. Be careful not to cut yourself though! For a tighter fit, cut inside of the Sharpie lines. For a cleaner look, cut on the Sharpie lines or flip the foam over before placing it back in the case.
- Place your guns, magazines, and accessories inside of the case. If it’s too tight, make the necessary cut and remove the excess foam. If it’s too loose, take a scrap piece of foam and glue it in place. It won’t look as good, but it will do the job and protect your weapon!
- Finally, place your guns and gear inside and go hunt!
Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case Review Summary
The Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case was a product that I didn’t realize that I needed until I started using it. I’ve never traveled with a gun on a plane, but if I ever get the chance, I’ll be prepared. Not only can I use this rifle case to carry my rifles on hunts that require me to fly, but I can also use it on local hunts without the extra weight and bulk of other double rifle cases that I’ve used in the past.
I’m extremely happy with this rifle case, from the easy to open push-button latches, to the convenient wheels on the bottom for easy transportation. I really had to nit-pick this product to come up with a few CONS listed below. This case has proved to be durable enough to survive whatever I can throw at it, and I look forward to traveling the country with it for years to come. One thing is for sure, I don’t have to worry about my Palmetto State Armory Gen3 PA10 .308 being damaged while it’s inside of the Pelican Vault V800 Double Rifle Case.
