Bushnell Bone Collector Trophy XLT 3-9×40 Rifle Scope Review

Hunting Scope Review Intro

I am relatively new to hunting; however, I am already consumed with it (just ask my friends and family!). I live and hunt in North Florida, and I have been enjoying the outdoors here as long as I can remember. No one in my family hunted while I was growing up, but I always wanted to go; so much so that I even subscribed to North American Whitetails as a teenager.

As I have started accumulating hunting gear, my number one goal is value. With a growing young family and a limited budget, I need the highest quality, durable, and most versatile hunting gear available. I hope that – as a newer hunter – I will be able to objectively review products without any preconceived notions about particular brands or products, and this information will help other hunters.

First Deer Success with the Bushnell Bone Collector Trophy XLT Scope

This Bushnell Trophy XLT 3-9×40 was used on my Mossberg ATR-100 .270. I found the scope to be excellent in low light situations. I have hunted using this scope in dense Florida backwoods, and successfully scoped and identified a button buck from about 100 yards. Another great feature on this scope is the anti-fog lens treatment. I have never had any issue with seeing clearly through the reticle – especially on the foggy morning when I shot my first deer! This is the type of performance that counts to me.

Bushnell 3-9×40 Bone Collector Trophy XLT Rifle Scope Review Summary

In summary, I am not on the market for a scope; I am thrilled with this one! I believe the Bushnell Trophy XLT Bone Collector Edition 3-9×40 Rifle Scope is an excellent value. I would recommend this scope to anyone who needs a solid scope at a low price point. There are no lights or lasers or ranging features – just a good quality product (from a reputable brand I might add). If you are shooting from much longer distances or have a much higher budget, you may need to keep looking; but for those of us who are watching the budget and hunting in the tight woods of the deep south, it is a great option to consider.

PROS:

  • Bushnell Bulletproof Guarantee
  • Anti-Fog Lens
  • Excellent in Low Light

CONS:

  • Short Eye Relief
