Covert MP8 Trail Camera Review

Mason Dingeldein

I began pursuing whitetails at the young age of 6 years old with my father in my home state of Wisconsin. This addiction followed me through the years, of course, but since starting bowhunting a few years ago, I have become more passionate and fanatical in the pursuit of mature whitetails. With that passion came the need to scout and prepare for every season. I needed a trail camera to help pattern and take inventory of the deer in my area. It was a daunting task to choose between the hundreds of options of trail cameras in today’s market. After much research, I found a great camera that suits my needs in the Covert MP8 Trail Camera. It will no doubt be part of my lineup of trail cameras this fall.

Choosing the Covert MP8 Trail Camera

As a trail camera rookie, I didn’t want to spend a fortune on my first camera, not knowing if it could be a hit or miss. Fortunately, this camera has everything I would need in features, at an affordable price point. One of the most significant advantages of this camera is the black flash, which takes pictures at night with no visible flash. This was important, as I did not want to spook any of my bucks from the area. The quality of the photos overall is excellent for an 8MP camera. Both night and day photos are clear, providing good lighting and no blurriness. The only downfall is video mode, where megapixels are stepped down, depleting the video quality.

Testing the Covert MP8 Trail Cam

Testing the Covert MP8
I live in mideastern Wisconsin, so I was able to test this camera in all scales of weather. I had it in the woods summer, fall, and winter of last year and have had no issues. I have had it in temps as low as -15°F, all the way up to 90°F, including all sorts of weather conditions. I expect it to be very durable, and I am satisfied with what I paid for it.

The Covert MP8 is an extremely affordable hunting tool to add to anyone’s arsenal. I will continue buying this model camera as long as they stay working for years to come. The black IR flash is a massive advantage with how well-priced camera is. It is easy for anyone to set up and is no doubt a great camera to add for someone who is looking to improve their lineup of cameras. I heartily approve this product from Covert to anyone who is looking for a high-quality, low-budget camera.
