Drake Daypack Review

Austin Bradford

I have owned other packs in the past, but I would never take them hunting because they weighed me down on the hike in. The Drake Daypack has allowed me to access remote areas of public land, and still be self-sufficient after the harvest. The simple and sleek design features a large zippered storage area, with space for a hydration bladder, and a front zippered pocket. There are also 2 external water bottle pockets, perfect for stashing gear. My Drake Daypack is in the classic Mossy Oak Bottomland pattern the looks good in and out of the woods.

Deer Hunting with the Drake Daypack

The two zipper pockets are capable of packing anything from a laptop to a small deer. I have packed out a young doe after quartering and placing it into plastic bags. The EVA shoulder straps, along with the chest and waist straps made carrying the load manageable. The key was having the pack with me.

Duck Hunting with the Drake Daypack

The Drake Daypack has served me well duck hunting as well. I recently filled it with all of my essentials, from coffee to a motion wing decoy, and even strapped a dog stand to it. It was a comfortable walk over 500 yards to our destination hole. I know when I put this pack on my back, I can count on it to carry everything I need for the day.

lightweight hunting pack

Drake Daypack Review Summary

The large pocket areas can make organization a challenge. It’s easy to lose small items in the bottom of the pack, making them hard to find in a hurry. However, I’m willing to sacrifice the organization capabilities that come with the added weight of more zippers and pockets. This simple, lightweight design is perfect for my long treks into the timber. If you like to keep things simple, I would definitely recommend checking out the Drake Daypack.

PROS:

  • Sleek Design
  • Lightweight
  • Enough Space for All Your Needs

CONS:

  • No Small Pockets for Organization
