I am an outdoors adventure-seeking junkie. I am always outdoors doing something. Hunting, fishing, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, camping, etc. I typically put several of these activities together on my hunting and fishing trips. However, my experience with up-close combat is very limited, and by limited, I mean nonexistent. I have been lucky enough to receive a tactical laser/light combo from the company Olight that is designed to mount onto a weapon to see at night and to acquire your target quickly.

First Impression Olight BALDR S Weapon Light and Laser Combo
This thing was blinding when I first turned it on! 800 lumens is no joke at all! It was so bright on the white wall in my room I had to turn it down to the low beam. It easily mounts on any weapon with a rail system, either a Glock or a Picatinny rail system in a matter of seconds once initially set to the width of the rail with a flat screwdriver. I think this can be slightly modified to be adjusted by hand rather than using the screwdriver. It is slightly long for any subcompact or concealed carry pistols and will fit the full-frame better so that it does not stick out past the end of the frame and barrel.
Testing the Olight BALDR S Weapon Light Review
While using the BALDR S with the high beam while testing I realized up close (10ft or less) the green laser can be hard to see with a lighter color background and there is no other light around (pitch dark). This is not the case at further distances, it is easily seen even in regular light. The laser will be hard to see of course in very bright light situations. The red laser in the light is adjustable to move pretty much anywhere in the light which is about an 8-10 inch plate size target in movement all depending on how you shoot your weapon.
Turning the light on takes some getting used to having never used a tactical light of this kind before, however it became very easy to turn on and off with your trigger finger. The BALDR S has three different modes that the user can quickly switch through with the push of a button.
- Light only
- Laser only

Olight BALDR S Tactical Light Review Summary
The Olight BALDR S Tactical Light is a great bright light/laser combo. Its quick attach feature makes it very easy to attach to your weapon and has the capability of mounting to a wide variety of brands and styles. This is set up as a great home defense attachment or EDC weapon. The BALDR S light/laser combo is very easy to use and holds a great beam, out to 130 meters. I found the laser to be easily adjusted to align your sight, allowing quick and precise target acquisition. The BALDR S can be swapped out for multiple weapons if desired and it’s built to last!
