After spending a few seasons hauling around a heavy-bulky bow case, I found myself leaving my bow case at home more and more, leaving my bow unprotected when traveling. Recently, the Plano Stealth Vertical Bow Case arrived at my doorstep and before long, I found myself carrying my bow in a case again. My old strong and sturdy TSA-approved bow case still has its place in my hunting travels but it isn’t necessary for everyday use when I don’t need to fly. That’s where the Plano Bowmax Stealth Vertical Bow Case comes into play.

Before you buy, make sure your bow will actually fit! The Plano Bowmax Stealth Vertical Bow Case is designed to accommodate bows up to 39″ axle-to-axle. The most unique thing about this case is the ability to secure in place with the quiver on! This is the most aggravating part of placing a bow in most bow cases and the Plano Bowmax Stealth Vertical Bow Case eliminates this issue.
This case has an interior dimension of 42.5” X 19” X 5.7” and every bow that I’ve placed inside it thus far has fit, however, there are a lot of target bows on the market that won’t fit most likely. Also, you might need to remove your stabilizer, but most hunting stabilizers won’t be an issue unless you’re shooting a front bar like Levi Morgan.
Quick Tip: Throw in a couple of layers of hunting clothes to increase the padding around the bow. The soft layers of clothing will pad the bow if necessary and it’s a great way to haul more gear without taking up as much space in your truck!
Is my bow protected inside the Plano Bowmax Stealth Vertical Bow Case Review?
The Plano Stealth Vertical Bow Case is durable for its designed purpose. Are you going throw your bow in it and fly to Africa? Absolutely not. However, it is perfect for sliding your bow into and heading to the range or driving to your favorite local hunting spot. I like this case as a casual, most of the time travel case, but it’s not TSA approved nor will it protect your bow from unnecessary abuse. If I’m only traveling a few hours from home for a weekend hunt, I take the Plano Bowmax Stealth Vertical Bow Case. However, if I’m traveling across the country during a week-long Rutcation, then I go with something heavier duty that I can throw around in the bed of the truck and not worry about.
Don’t get me wrong, if you secure this case properly, there’s no reason that it won’t protect your bow. It’s equipped with velcro straps inside that secure your bow in the upright position. You’ll want to secure these to the riser side of the bow, not the quiver side.
My favorite part about this case is the fact that you can leave your quiver on when traveling! No other bow case that I’ve ever owned has allowed me to leave the quiver in place during transportation. This not only speeds up the process, but it’s so convenient. I’ve also found that I can throw in a couple of layers of hunting clothing and decrease the amount of space that my hunting gear takes up in my truck when traveling.

How to secure your bow into the Plano Bowmax Stealth Vertical Bow Case.
This is going to be the simplest step-by-step instructions you’ve ever read.
- Unzip the case.
- Lay your bowstrings down, sights and stabilizer up inside the case. There’s no need to remove your stabilizer, so leave it on.
- Optional step. Attach the velcro straps around the riser of the bow to hold it in the upright position and keep it from moving. (Personal note – I rarely take the time to do this, I simply throw my jacket or hoodie in with the bow and go.)
- Next, zip the case closed. If the stabilizer is in the way, simply remove it. Hopefully, you’re using a quick disconnect if you’re using extra-long stabilizers.
- Go to the range! Go hunt!

The Plano Bowmax Stealth Vertical Bow Case exceeded my expectations. At first, I didn’t think it would be a product that I would use very often but it’s now a staple in my hunting arsenal. I love how quick and easy it is to retrieve my bow and head to the stand. I no longer have to remove my quiver or stabilizer, as they both fit inside this case when attached to the bow. I may not be using this bow case to fly, but I’m certainly getting more use out of it than my heavier, bulkier bow case at the moment.
