Ground blind hunting can be a lot of fun for everyone, regardless of the season. In years past, I’ve typically utilized ground blinds when conditions pushed me out of the treestand, such as heavy rain, snow, and brutally cold temperatures. However, this year was a little different. I’ve been utilizing ground blinds to introduce my bonus son to deer hunting and I might be sticking with this strategy for years to come.
He’s not quite ready for a treestand yet and a ground blind is ideal for introducing him to hunting. Let’s face it, kid’s get fidgety and they have trouble holding still for extended periods of time. Knowing this should make you want to pick-up a ground blind before your next hunt. We found ourselves doing math homework from the blind during the hunt this season, as well as playing 20 questions. Answering questions like What makes that noise? When will the deer be here? Do you think we should go somewhere else? What’s for dinner?
Coming into this season, I knew it would be special. This season was about introducing my new hunting buddy to the sport that I love and we’ve had a blast doing it. We’ve also been very successful thus far, partially thanks to our new Tidewe 270-degree See Through Ground Blind.
Tidewe 270° See Through Hunting Blind
Tidewe’s See-Through hub-style ground blind is ideal for nearly any hunting application. This blind uses fabric perforation technology to achieve a 270° one-way see-through while maintaining excellent concealment and providing a great view for hunters. Initial Thoughts on the Tidewe Hunting Blind 270° Ground Blind
It didn’t take long for me to have the Tidewe 270 Ground Blind installed and ready for the hunt. After popping out each panel of the hub-style blind, I positioned the blind to ensure we would have a solid black wall behind us and only opened windows that we needed for shooting. Immediately, I noticed that there were no zippers or annoying velcro. The silent open/close windows and door were an improvement over some cheaper ground blinds that I had utilized in the past.
After installation, we took a seat inside to admire our work and take in the view. The perforated see-through material provides an increased field of view without exposing us to deer or turkey outside of the blind.
Assembly of the Tidewe 270 Degree See Through Ground Blind
Assembly is really simple. It’s the same basic principle as any other hub-style ground blind on the market. Simply take expand the blind and pop out the four sides by pushing from the inside of the blind at the hub of each panel. Installing the blind in the hunting area can be tricky though. Not because of the product, just make sure you have a large enough area cleared out to put the ground blind and then brush it in when you’re finished.
How many people fit inside the ground blind?
I would consider this ground blind a two-person blind. Any more than that, and you’re not going be comfortable. Now, I could see having two little kids and an adult, but not three nearly fully grown people inside and still having enough room to draw your bow back. Boston and I had plenty of room for a BOG Deathgrip, Ravin R26X Crossbow, backpack, and two chairs.
270 Degree See-Through Material
The most unique feature of this ground blind is the 270-degree see-through material. This is a knockoff of the Primos Surroundview design, just a lot cheaper. In fact, you can buy two or three of the Tidewe blinds compared to one Primos Surroundview blind.
The idea behind the see-through ground blind is to allow the hunter to see what’s on the outside of the blind while not allowing anything to see inside of the ground blind. It works too! I think the Primos material is better than Tidewe but I can’t justify spending the extra money on a ground blind that will be ruined after one unexpected snowfall.
You can see through the blind a full 270 degrees but don’t try to shoot through it! Utilize the windows for shooting. I’ve heard stories of guys shooting through their blind turkey hunting and all you’re doing is ruining your blind and probably missing your target in the process.
Does the See-Through Material Really Work?
From my experience, it works but not as well as the Primos Surroundview blinds. The perforation creates a see-through look that works, just not as well as the Primos version which costs triple the amount.
From the outside looking in, you cannot see inside the blind through the perforated sides of the blind. However, you can see out of the blind in all directions. The detail that you can see through the “see-through” walls is limited as it’s hard to distinguish the details of the animal walking by. For instance, you can certainly tell that a deer is walking by the blind, however, you cannot decipher how many points the buck has. It’s simply a moving object.
Personally, I don’t see this as a negative thing. I simply need to know when it’s time to draw my bow back and when it’s not!
Thoughts After Multiple Hunts
I’ve been able to spend several evenings in my new ground blind from Tidewe and I have very little to complain about. The see-through material is great for seeing movement outside of the blind but it’s not like you’re looking through a window. It’s The image is distorted and the more light outside the blind, the easier it is to see through it. For instance, if it’s a sunny, snowy day, you can see great. However, on a dreary, rainy day, you can’t see through it very well.
That shouldn’t come as surprise and you shouldn’t consider it a negative thing. If you don’t plan on using a side for a shooting lane, keep it sealed up. I will say that you can’t distinguish much about what’s outside the blind, but I can tell if it’s a deer or not at 20 yards. The closer an animal gets, the cooler it is. I’ve even tested the blind out to see if deer can see me moving inside and they simply can’t see me!
I’m yet to be seen or smelled while hunting out of this blind. I’ve had deer within 5 feet of the blind staring right through the see-through mesh, only to let their guard down and continue on their way without issue. I thought one deer was going to touch the blind on one hunt. On a side note, I can’t wait to shoot some turkeys out of this blind this coming spring!

Tidewe 270 Degree See Through Hunting Blind Review Summary
The Tidewe 270 Degree See Through Hunting Blind met my expectations. The price is great, especially when you compare prices from similar products. The only major downside that I see is rain getting into the blind through the perforation. Also, the side windows can catch rainwater if you’re not careful. It’s a good idea to move your ground blind chairs to the back wall when exiting the blind. I never got wet when hunting because the top of the blind does its job, just don’t lean your backpack or gear against the side wall of the blind. Which is Best for Deer Hunting, Treestand or a Ground Blind?
Would I buy another Tidewe 270 Degree See Through ground blind? Absolutely! I would suggest picking up some high-quality after-market tent stakes though. I’m yet to receive high-quality ground tent stakes with any ground blind. For the best deal on deer hunting blinds, check out this blog post.
