One of the most accurate thumb barrel releases on the market is the TRU Ball Archery Blade Pro Flex Release and I had to test it for myself. It didn’t take long and my groups tightened up and found myself enjoying the shooting process of using a thumb barrel again.
I’m not here to convince you to switch from an index release to a thumb button upgrade your current Thumb Button release to a nicer version, I’m just here to help you decide on whether or not you should spend $300 on this release for hunting. Let’s dive into the deep into this review and learn more before making a decision to purcahse.

Can You Hunt with the TRU Ball Archery Blade Pro Flex Release?
You could hunt with the TRU Ball Archery Blade Pro Flex Release, that’s why I purchased it. But I don’t recommend it. It’s not because it’s not accurate. I can bust nocks with the best of them. However, the safety mechanism that prevents the super accurate jaw from being damaged won’t close if the D-loop is in the way, meaning in a hurry, you could miss the opportunity to shoot an approaching buck!
As accurate and fun to shoot as this release is, I don’t recommend you use it for hunting for the sole purpose of being able to clip it to the d-loop quickly during a shot opportunity.
How to adjust the TRU Ball Archery Blade Pro Flex Release?
High-end releases with sensitive adjustments like the TRU Ball Blade Pro Flex release can be micro adjusted to the user’s preference and here’s how. There are independent adjustments for both trigger travel and trigger sensitivity. To adjust the
trigger sensitivity you’re going to have a locking screw to loosen first. The adjustment screw will be adjusted counterclockwise turns will make the release go off faster. A clockwise adjustment will make the trigger stiffer.
The trigger travel also has an adjustment screw with a locking screw, so loosen it before turning it clockwise to reduce the amount of trigger, counterclockwise increases the amount of travel. You can lighten this release up to where it fires if the wind blows but that’s a little too light for my liking.
Does TRU Ball offer a warranty?
T.R.U. Ball Releases are guaranteed against defects in material and workmanship not caused by normal wear to the original owner, with a valid sales receipt, for the active lifetime of the product. This warranty is void if the release has been disassembled, abused, modified, or subjected to abnormal conditions. Wrist straps are not covered under warranty. We recommended yearly strap replacement. Ripped or cut threads on straps due to intentional or unintentional negligence are not covered under warranty. Letting go of your release aid at any time during the shot process, as evidenced by abnormal dents and/or bent parts, will void this warranty. T.R.U., Inc. will not be liable for any consequential or incidental damages to any other piece of equipment the release may come into contact with. T.R.U., Inc. will not be liable in any way for the risk, danger, injury, or damages caused by the improper use of this product.
TRU Ball Archery Blade Pro Flex Release Review Summary
I’m in the process of testing several different archery releases, including the TRU Ball Archery Blade Pro Flex Release. Accuracy and shooting ability proved very consistent, honestly, it was a dream to shoot. It’s everything you’d want in a thumb barrel release. Easily adjustable, has a nice weight in the hand, built-in lanyard keeps you from losing it.
Now, is this the best archery release for bowhunting? That’s where I’m going to say no! It’s perfectly built for the 3D course but the only major flaw is detrimental to your hunt. That’s the fact that the jaw will not close if it’s touched by your D-loop. In a hurry, you might miss the opportunity to attach it to your d-loop and miss a shot opportunity on a big buck. The release is designed this way to prevent damage and be super accurate, which it is!
