It’s primetime! You’ve spent a year waiting on the whitetail rut to get here and now is the time to be in a tree, in hopes that a big buck cruises by your stand in search of a hot doe. As exciting as this time of the year can be, each season, I kick myself in the butt for not being in the stand mid-day as a cellular trail camera sends me a notification of a mature buck walking by my treestand.
I’m not alone in missing out on an opportunity at a mature buck because I got out of the stand too early. However, I’ll be the first to say that all-day sits aren’t easy but I find myself doing it more and more each season as my days in the field decrease each year. An all-day sit in a treestand is a daunting task for most, I recall Dan Johnson from The Nine Fingers Chronicles Podcast talking about not liking all-day sits due to his bad knees and he’s in IOWA, the land of the giants.
Don’t be scare of all-day sit because the rewards can be oh-so-sweet when you have the encounter with a buck that you’ve been targeting all season long. Here are a few tips to help you get through those all-day sits this fall and few ideas to help you be more comfortable during your sit!
