Muck Boots are in a category of their own when it comes to waterproof boots that are built to withstand the mud and muck that your next adventure has to offer. If you’ve owned a pair, then you know what to expect as Muck Boots have been a staple in the outdoorsman’s footwear line-up as long as I’ve been hunting. The Muck Mossy Oak Country DNA Pathfinder Tall Boot is no exception and lives up to the expectations that Muck Boots sets.
Testing boots is often a matter of personal opinion, which makes it hard to quantify the results. Ensuring you’re utilizing the product for its designated purpose is the first step in enjoying the boot and getting the most out of it. For me, these boots are ideal for cooler temperature hunts of 60 degrees or less, in areas and times in which I have to traverse creeks or wet areas.

Muck Mossy Oak Country DNA Pathfinder Tall Boot | Performance
These boots are built to withstand muddy and wet conditions and shine in the sloppiest conditions. On top of being waterproof, they’re breathable, flexible, and easy to clean. As a bowhunter, I’m used to climbing in and out of treestands and lug soles, which have a right-angle heel to prevent you from slipping while climbing.
Hiking in the boots to and from the stand isn’t an issue but it’s not a boot that I’d wear on a backcountry elk hunt as it’s a slip-on boot. That doesn’t mean they’re not ideal for deer and turkey hunting applications, which I’m more prone to doing.

Muck Mossy Oak Country DNA Pathfinder Tall Boot | Fit and Feel
The most surprising feature of these boots is how comfortable they are. The insoles are like little pillows for my feet, yet the outsoles are sturdy enough that I don’t feel every little rock and pebble during the walk. These are the most comfortable slip-on boots that I own. As for the fit, they’re true to size. The fit around the lower leg and calf gives me just enough room to tuck in my pants, which allows me to keep them clean and dry. Even though there’s enough room for me to tuck my pants on doesn’t mean you will. If you’re plus-sized, you might not be able to tuck them in, but you’re probably used to that.
What You Should Buy the Muck Mossy Oak Country DNA Pathfinder Tall Boot.
There are a lot of high-quality boots on the market and choosing the best one can be tricky. I’ve been a fan of Muck Boots for as long as I can remember and they seemed to feel the same year after year, so you knew what you were getting. They’d perform well in crappy conditions but they were never your favorite hunting boot.
However, in recent years, Muck Boots have become a favorite amongst avid hunters because they perform as designed and they’re more comfortable and flexible than ever before. They’re really the best of both worlds, waterproof and comfortable. Also if you’re a scent control guy, the bottom of the boot is rubber above the ankle, so you don’t have to worry about absorbing unwanted odors.
So, would I recommend spending $160 on these boots? Absolutely! They’re fantastic in the field for the conditions in which they’re designed to be utilized. There’s no one boot fits all scenarios, so have a boot for different scenarios these are my go-to boots for accessing hunting spots through creek bottoms, wet fields, and if it’s raining or just wet out in general.

Muck Mossy Oak Country DNA Pathfinder Tall Boot Review | Potential Improvements
Honestly, there’s not much I’d change with these boots. Muck Boots are in a league of their own and these boots are at the top of their class. They’re extremely comfortable, more so than I expected if I’m being honest. If I could change anything, I’d like for them to be lighter, but lighter materials aren’t as durable, so the trade-off wouldn’t be worth it. If you’re looking for a smaller boot, consider the Muck Apex Boot or the Muck Arctic Pro Boot.
