Assembly of the QuietKat All-Terrain Cargo Trailer

Assembly of the All-Terrain Cargo Trailer wasn’t hard at all.  Once you unpackage the box, the parts can be installed simply by looking at a photo of the trailer.  I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not very mechanically inclined, but I haven’t had and a problem setting up my Apex or the All-Terrain Trailer.  

The hardest part of the assembly was installing the front and left arms of the yoke.  The axle-style connection between the yoke and the cargo trailer was very tight.  The cargo trailer bracket that holds everything in place was very stiff but with a little force, the axle slid into place and I don’t think I’ll have to worry about it coming apart any time soon. I didn’t need an extra hand but it might have smoothened the assembly process if I had.

Assembly of the front wheel can be accomplished with an Allen wrench (supplied) but don’t forget to check the axle for grease.  I added some additional lubricant to the axle and didn’t have an issue getting the tire to fit.  It can be tricky at first but be sure to remove the black plastic piece between your front brake pads first.  If not, you’ll never install the wheel on as the rotor is designed to be installed where the black plastic piece is.  This piece is important so that your brake pads do not close up when you take the wheel off, so be sure to hang onto it.  Finally, be sure to NOT touch the brakes when the black plastic piece isn’t installed because the pads will tighten up too far.  It’s best to use caution during this time.

The next item to install is the handlebars.  This is done with four Allen bolts and you’ll need to adjust them a time or two to find the most comfortable position.  For me, the handlebars need to be centered and rotated up just a hair.  You may need to readjust them on occasion until you find what works best for you.  Just make sure you get them tightened up before riding.

Does the QuietKat All-Terrain Cargo Trailer Change the Handling of the Bike?

Of course!  Anytime you add weight to a lightweight product like a bicycle, you’re going to feel it.  My biggest piece of advice would be to secure the load that you’re carrying.  For instance, you can run over a log in the trailer and pop your cooler out of the trailer or the elk hind quarter that you’re hauling could slide out going up or down a hill.  If the weight shifts, you could potentiall wreck. Uses for the QuietKat All-Terrain Cargo Trailer

Here’s the fun part!  Putting the QuietKat All-Terrain Cargo Trailer to good use.  I’ve utilized the trailer to haul feed, treestands, ground blinds, chairs, trash bags, logs, and even my kid!  (Just don’t tell his mom).   Don’t forget that you could use this cargo trailer for fishing or camping as well.  Throw a cooler in it and have a good time.  The possibilities are endless!  The only thing that I wanted to haul with it this year has eluded me this season, a big buck!  There’s always next year though.

Can you use the QuietKat All-Terrain Cargo Trailer on Other Bikes?

My short answer is yes but I can’t confirm this because I have no need to buy another bike as I own a QuietKat Apex eBike.  However, after doing some research, I found multiple reports online where people purchased this product to be utilized on other bikes, including a motorcycle.  I’m sure customization would be needed to make it fit, but not with a QuietKat bike.  The dual-suspension QuietKat bikes require a special axle that can be picked up for under $70.

The QuietKat All-Terrain Cargo Trailer is the perfect complement to my QuietKat Apex.  Both products were a great addition to my hunting arsenal this year.  Utilizing the cargo trailer, along with my ebike, has allowed me to be more efficient in the woods.  Whether it be hauling treestands, ground blinds, chairs, or feed.  The biggest hurdle is hauling the bike and trailer around but once it’s out of the truck, I’m ready to roll.

The stability and handling of the bike change as weight is added to the trailer.  Also, securing your load will help when traveling, so keep a few straps handy.  My only regret is not having the bike with me when I or my bonus son harvested a buck this year.  Hopefully, we can throw a doe on the trailer before the season ends.

Your biggest question is probably, “Would you recommend buying the QuietKat All-Terrain Cargo Trailer?”  Of course, if you’re going to invest in an eBike, be sure to pick up a trailer so you can make all of your outdoor chores easy.  I’ve even used the trailer to haul trash and debris around the house.  Another QuietKat accessory that you should purchase for your ebike is the QuietKat QK 1Up Bike Rack.  It’s drastically changed how much I use my e-bike because it makes transporting so much easier.
